If I remember correctly, the bug you describe was fixed in 6.5.1, but then reappeared in a later beta version after 6.5.6. Are you by any chance running beta version 6.5.9?

This is a bug that is being fixed for Version 7. If you are flying and plan route, it should start from your actual location, not a nearby airport. I believe it will work like this. If you are not moving, on or near the ground, and very close to an airport then it would drop you at the airport. Otherwise ti should set from your current lat/long. Walter is working on redoing this to avoid it snapping you to a nearby airport while enroute.

I've also relayed requests for the "Direct-To, Enter (Go)" that many units have to recalculate your planned route (magenta line) to the next active waypoint. Basically, just bring the magenta line to you. This is on the Wish List.
