Correct, after the iFly is successfully updated the update file is deleted. If you wish to prevent this for some reason, you can set the "Read Only" flag on this file.

I just rec'd my ifly and cannot update it. I have the selected update files in my SanDisk, because I can see them all listed when I open the content on my computer. When I try to load the ifly I keep getting the message "the update file was not found" What's up ???

Bigbully,

You mention "I can see them all listed"...but there should be only one file - "iFlyUpdatePackage.zip" (or something close to that...like iFlyUpdatePackage_1.zip).

If you see a bunch of files, could it be the file has been unzipped onto the SanDisk?

Thanks for the help Walter, I got it to work. As you can surely tell I am not a computer geek. Now I've got the message "Unable to process update" I'll try it again and see what happens. I must have opened the files that I loaded to the SanDisk, didn't know any better. 2nd try completed update, now I'm totally impressed with this unit. Cannot beleive the accuracy of the altitude readout. I sent back a King AV80R when I saw this one in GA news.

Thanks for the feedback. The "Unable to process update" message is usually because the zip file is corrupt - and this almost always happens because the Flash Drive was removed without doing the "eject" procedure on your computer. Windows XP seems especially prone to this problem. Sounds like you got it all worked out though.

I tell a lot of folks that the only difficult part of the update procedure is saving the update file from your computer to the USB Stick. And that is difficult because the process is different for every computer / OS / browser. But once you've done it once or twice, and figured out the procedure for your computer, it's a piece of cake!

Thanks,
Walter
