I saw this right after my last post.  I will give it a try but sure would like an opinion from Adventure Pilot.

Charlie, are you sure that the baud rate is set correctly? I can't check right now, but my recollection is that it needs to be 7200 baud and that you have to set the Dynon to output at that rate. Maybe check the Dynon's docs.

Thanks Don, but I am trying to connect the iFLY NEMA output to the Dynon D10 GPS input.  iFLY has only 4800, 9600, and 19200 baud options.

Sorry!  9600 is the correct baud rate.  It's specified in the EFIS-D10A Installation Guide. You should be able to find it on Dynon's website.

Alasdair had the fix.  Here is what I learned this morning: the NEMA Port Controller in the iFLY would not launch if the Dynon was connected during boot up.  If I booted with the Dynon disconnected I could connect it later and it would work.  I made an adapter with male and female DB9 connectors with only the transmit and ground wires, and I could boot with the Dynon connected.
