Thanks Walter, I will just do that till you get a fix.

Do you have any idea when you might have a way to put XM weather on the Ifly 720?
I know you have ADS-B available now, but I'm just not convinced that is the best weather available at this particular time.

Trying to make some decisions on it now after a flight from Phx, AZ to the Bahamas. Would be nice to have.Looking at the AERA 560 now, but so much would be redundant with the IFLY which is better in the first place.

Thanks,

Barry

After many frustrating hours of attempting an update to my iFly 720, I have tried the procedure of using a USB thumbdrive. It appears to be 155mb of data. I have turned off the internet connection on the iFly, but it doesn't update from the thumbdrive and keeps trying to access iFly servers. Yes, I have tried rebooting with thumbdrive in. The thumbdrive is illuminated so I would expect that means the iFly has recognized the thumbdrive.

I have a fast internet connection, but it continually fails to load files when connected to the internet. That is why I am giving up on the server update.

Since the sd card update came available I haven't even tried for a wifi update on my 720. My first 720 worked pretty well with the wifi but would never connect to my iPhone as a hotspot. My original 720 fried and the replacement has never been able to hold a wifi connection. This is not really an issue since I use the sd card update. My original plan was to use my iPhone hotspot as a last minute update for weather and TFRs. Ed has told me a couple times to call him and we would work through the issue, but my iFly seldom leaves the airplane. If I would just make a decision on an ads-b unit I would get that info. The sd card route continues to be the method of choice for me.

I do have problems at times getting ahold do the card to get it out. Has anyone had that problem and figured out an easier way to pull it?

It appears I finally "beat" the update server into submission. Although my iFly is now updated, I had to spend way too much time attempting to get it to happen. I know that I am not the only person suffering this frustration. These days this should be easy and not requiring so much effort in my opinion.

Tim: I would suppose you are using this method for removing the SD card, if not let me suggest it: Press the SD card INTO the 720 unit then release and it should pop up out of the slot. Then it should be an easy matter to slip it out completely using two finger tips on the sides. On the matter of an ADSB unit, I am very pleased with the SkyGuardTWX Vision-Pro transeiver (ADSB-OUT), especially the traffic. They tell me they have applied for FAA certification and assured me these units will be "grandfathered in" when certification is received, making them compliant with the 2020 mandate. I pick up FIS-B weather about 1,000 ft agl around KRID & western OH. The integration with the 720 has been flawless. Plus you get a $100 discount as an iFly 720 owner. When I considered a Zaon traffic-only box costs about the same, it was a no-brainer to go with the SkyGuard TWX Vision-Pro transceiver and get full TIS-B plus FIS-B. "Just saying," as a satisfied owner. ===Ralph
