Small update: I aquired a refurb ASUS Z8 and we took it flying with my wife's samsung galaxy 10" tablet. Apparently things work pretty well on the ASUS devices - no drops out, yet her Samsung dropped in and out constantly. GO figure! So I am restoring her old ASUS tablet and I have the nice refurb one and that seems to be the answer. Not sure what samsung is doing to their adroid version, but it is mean to iFly / doesn't like the roving networks WIFI chip in the navworx dongle.
