Found a fix you can share with others.   It must have been something with android 7.1

I updated last night and as soon as I got to 8.0 it worked.    Continued on to 9.0 and it works good with it as well.

Not sure why the old version worked and the new didn't,  but android updates fixed the issue.

Bryan, thank you for fixing this with an Android upgrade.  We have one other user who has reported this bug to us so far, with similar footprint in the log.  So far, we have no solid idea for what could have caused this issue.

Brian:

I have used IFLY for several years now with excellent performance. However,  in recent months I have encountered various irritating issues. Most are intermittent so hard to log.

1) Diamond symbol in close proximity with my plane giving alerts. Clicking on the symbol shows 0 airspeed and even though it is following me the course indication is different than mine. I have auto log on, but haven't had a recurrence since I turned auto log on.

2) Couldn't pulll up IFLY during a recent flight unless I updated IFLY.

3) After updating I find the screen turning pink during zoom in and out. This too is intermittent.

4) Running Real Plan often adds 100 miles to my selected coures KAJO to 3U2 when I remove one of the many unnecessary waypoint jogs.

The above issues were when using my Samsung TAB A tablet.

Running Real plan on my Samsung Note 9 can take 7 or more minutes for the course mentioned above. I have to abort and do the flight plan manually which takes about 2 minutes. While I have been typing this my phone is still working on the trip solution and the timer no longer shows the time that has elapsed. It looks like it has just stopped trying and the wind barbs are still showing, but not moving. The unit is now locked up so I have to go out of IFLY.

I have now started Real Plan on my selected course on the phone and the tablet. The tablet took 3.5 minutes. The phone has gone 8 minutes with the expected finish time projected to be 40 minutes. I had to abort the plen at 10 min 20 sec.

I'm sure the IFLY staff will eventually resolve these issues. In the interim I'll just do my plans manually.

Now that Real Plan has been released. I and other users on my airport are hoping IFLY will spend some time on clearing up the wish list. Especially, in providing vocal traffic warnings as opposed to the one now used. I.E. "Traffic, 3 o clock 2 miles."

LATER: Tried some short trip from my airport KAJO.

Catalina Island: Solved in less than a minute.

to Fresno; Solved in less than a minute.

Windows laptop solved KAJO to KOSH in 3 minutes. Samsun Tab A solved in 6 min 45 secs. Phone at 8 minutes showed Remaining=??? Percentage done 0%. Aborted at 10 minutes

to Red Bluff, Ca: Taking much longer with Remaining indicating ??? Finally, after 3 minutes Remining fluctuates between 15 and 17 minutes. At 4 minutes ot is showing only 19% solved. Aborted run at 6 minutes.

to Portland , OR TTD: Note 9 phone time= Aborted at 6 minutes. Tab A tablet finished in 3 minutes. Windows laptop completed in 1 minute.

Strange: I though I had aborted my phone at 6 minutes, but when I looked back at it after about 15 minutes it had finished the KAJO to KTTD route.

So it appears the platform makes the difference. So I can use my tablet and my laptop but not my Note 9 phone.

EVEN LATER: Tried Real Plan on a course from KAJO Corona, CA to OSH on an LG tablet. Ran for 12 minutes with no solution so I aborted it.

Guess I'm the only one having these issues since I see no issues like these from others on the forum.

I will stick to setting my courses manually since there is no benefit to me to run RP.

Bryan - I forwarded this onto my software devs. Thanks for testing that for us!

I too have an intermittent failure with the sectionals not showing.

If I stop the app, and then go to settings and kill the app, and then restart, about 50% of the time the sectionals will then show up. Sometimes, all I can do is wait a few minutes before starting the app again.

I have two identical tablets, both of them Samsung S3 (set up purely to run iFly) and another S4 for general use and they all do this occasionally.

It appears that sectionals are taking longer than usual to fully appear.

As I have mentioned in an earlier post, I am seeing a series of performance issues that I had not seen in years.
