On the Vertical Profile: I finally found some screen shots of EasyVFR (on their PlayStore page). If iFly were to hide the title bar to the main VP window (which doesn't seem to have a function except Close), it would essentially mimic EasyVFR's.(Would there be any benefit to an opacity setting for the VP window?)

As for more info on base map: Well, as long as I can turn it off, I don't care. Runway types are obvious from the Sectional. And I'm guessing that 99% of iFly users land on hard surface, if for no other reason than insurance coverage. Rwys that have right traffic are also shown on the Sectional, and already show in iFly on Zoom-In. As for rwy direction, that also shows on Zoom-In and is available on the Airport page.

I'm not sure what the unamed new pilot is trying to use iFly for. If it's to avoid pattern traffic from the many grass strips near him, I suggest, as an older, less bolder pilot, that the safer approach is to fly above the traffic pattern by a thousand feet. (Esp. since a lot of pilots don't fly published patterns.) If it's to brief for a landing - well, except for emergencies, info like surface, patterns, rwy direction are part of preflight planning.

But if iFly can figure out how to display what he wants in an intuitive way that doesn't clutter up the display and that can be disabled, that would be fine w/ me. There are other items higher on my wish-list tho.

Here's an update.

For the Vertical profile in upcoming Version 10, I've added one more larger size for phone mode, and have increased the plane size graphic for the larger profile sizes and thickened the line to ensure it's nice and visible.

Regarding the "out of control alerts", I just tested this functionality and disabling alerts seems to work 100%. Just go to "Menu => Setup => Alerts/Warnings" and then disable Terrain Alerts, Traffic Alerts, and then go into "Airspace Alerts => Alert Modes..." and then set all alert modes to "No Alert"... and poof, you'll have NO ALERTS at all. Give it a try.

You can validate what I'm saying by using "simulation mode" to do a mock flight. (Menu => About => Start Simulation Mode).

So I think your "alerts are out of control" complaint might already be working correctly, if you just configure it to turn off these alerts. Please let me know if this does or doesn't work for you.

Thanks!

Jeff did a good treatise on Visual Check Points. IIRC, someone here already asked that VFR Corridors, with their corresponding VFR checkpoints, be shown, to scale, in iFly. I'm guessing that users are asking for these in Vector mode, since Checkpoints are shown on Sectionals and TAC's, and the corridors are sometimes shown on TAC's. As Jeff already said, if all this can be disabled (and if it doesn't slow down iFly, make downloads a lot longer, etc.), it doesn't matter to me.

On "No Alerts": I just ran a sim the other day with 9.8.8 and I got the "Leaving Class D Airspace" as I've squawked before), even tho I have that Alert disabled. Perhaps v10 has fixed this.

I'm thinking the VFR reporting points are depicted visually on the sectional charts but are not contained in any sort of database that could be overlaid on the vector charts.
