I guess so, but my luck i would end up with a brick.

Any news on if I Fly may have an update to avoid some of these issues may be coming out - or a google update?

Compared to Brian's link it is easier. 1000s have used the nexus utility I linked with no issues. You always make modifications at your own risk. You can:

1. Do nothing and wait for an operating system update ("if" that fixes the Ifly crashes) or an Ifly patch.

2. Roll back with your method of choice.

What they "need" to do is imaterial. Bugs happen with every major release of tablet software both Android and Apple. Apple just had their issues with 8.0. I carry one tablet of each in the cockpit for this very reason.

Patience is king.
