Wouldn't that explain why it won't work with your Android tablet? What am I missing?

Yes, but that doesn't mean that there is no way to get around that limitation.

BTW: That "locked down" aspect is a big reason why I haven't bought a Stratus and support IFly rather than that certain more established EFB app. Competition is always good for the consumer, yet Foreflight and Stratus obviously work in collusion to keep their customers from reaping the benefits of a fair and open market.

Oldpilot, No. That's not the problem. The android device recognizes it's existence. The problem with Status is that it's data stream is encoded. Can't even be used by other iOS apps. But the folks here at Adventure Pilot found a way around that.

Vaughn, I can see many excellent reasons for an app developer to focus in on one and only one piece of hardware and have a controlled product. Hasn't seemed to hurt much since ForeFlight appears to be the #1 EFB app out there in terms of number of users.

Brian, Do I need to be somewhere I can get an ADSB signal for the log file to show the information you need? BTW, what does "heartbeat" refer to?

In your living room is fine. I should be able to see the heartbeat data packet, and determine if this is solvable. Heartbeat is the simple message that comes across at around 1Hz that says "I'm here" and lets you know the connection is still there.
