Keep in mind, it is the combination of the Plane rotation and the tablet rotation. The plane could be banked 20-25 degrees, then add an extra yoke correction for wind gusts of another short burst of 20 degrees, it would rotate the screen briefly.

Also, in a high crosswind slip or heavy turbulence. I've landed my 172 with full rudder and aileron deflection before, and it would definitely rotate in that situation. My iPad Min and my Android tablet rotates at just over 45 degreed.

Agree, it would not happen that much. But you'd sure that to have pilot slipping in with IFR conditions and high crosswinds and the screen rotate on them. Again rare, but possible.

I'm sure Walter will take all the feedback into consideration. We have to think of all pilots and situations. Good dialog here.

Obviously, it needs to work for everyone. I'm just saying don't assume something based on theory. My experience with Naviator is that it's not an issue. If it is, lock the screen. Either build that into IFly or use an Android app. I actually had an app to lock the screen, but deleted it when I determined I didn't need it.

Jim,

You may not be experiencing full "auto-rotate" feature on your Nexus 7 or Asus. Seems there was a bug with the latest Android OS update affecting the Auto-Rotate on the Nexus 7 and Asus TF700, reported back in Nov 2013. Some people reported it taking more rotation than 45 degree to actuate it. It's pretty widely discussed on the web, maybe there is a fix now.

Also flat or knee board mounted rotation is a bit different than upright. With my iPad Mini and Android flat on my knee in portrait mode, it consistently rotates about about 30 degrees of rotation. My android tablet is the same about 30 degrees. Just an informal test I did.

If it's a bug, I like it. Works well for me.

Thank, Shane. I've never heard of gyrometers. I've just Google them. Very interesting. - I wonder how long it will take the FAA to approve them! - Jim Williams
