I'm holding off. ....   I'd rather update the OS 3 months later than I could have than one hour earlier than I should have.

Especially when it comes to wanting to know if the new iOS is iFly friendly. There was at least one OS update a few years ago that did glitch iFly.

We have heard some reports of iOS 11 found that devices on iOS 11 using Bluetooth or plug-in GPS receivers for postion data can experience loss of GPS signal when carried on aircraft exceeding 300 kts. The issue does not appear on slower aircraft or with devices that provide more than just GPS such as Stratux. Has anyone experienced a loss of GPS when exceeding 300 kts on iOS 11?

My interpretation of this Bad Elf link is that it only occurs if you put the Apple in Airplane Mode AND travel more than 150NM away from the last known position within 30 minutes of activating Airplane Mode.  After the 30 minute window, everything works as expected. This link explains the issue (from Bad Elf's standpoint) and offers a workaround until Apple fixes the bug:

EDIT for clarity:  I came up with the150NM distance by dividing the 300KT speed mentioned by the 30 minute window mentioned

I’m not sure. On a recent commercial flight, I saw something weird with my Dual XGPS150A. I was in Airplane Mode with Bluetooth enabled. The 150 connected. ForeFlight and the Dual Status Tool read location just fine, but none of the other 4 EFB apps on my iPad (including IFlyGPS) saw location (yes, I tried unloading others and loading separately).

I haven’t tried to reproduce it when flying myself yet.

For all those who have updated to iOS 11, do this test and report your results. I have been working with Brian to find a fix for this behavior on my iPad after iOS 11 update.

You do not have to be in your airplane to do this. Start iFlY without an external GPG device. Make sure you have the iFlY GPS status instrument displayed. After iFlY starts, watch the GPS instruments. My behavior is when you do not move, the instrument shows zero bars, then the “ no GPS position warning” is displayed. The moment you start to move, iFly works normally. Then stop, count off 15 seconds and see if the warning message returns. Mine is very repeatable, during a short walk down my driveway, I had the same behavior several times. 15 sec after motion stops, warning is displayed, start moving and warning goes away.
