I have had several IFly GPS units over the years but find myself with an IPad mini in the dash of my glider and no more IFly GPS units. This was done to run the soaring software when thermaling. I would also like a general navigation software and prefer the IFly app over my Foreflight app. My last subscription has expired for a previous IFly GPS and I am trying to determine if it is really worth the cost of doing the IPad with IFly.

As I understand it, you are required to pay for a subscription and the multi-platform option every year? I could understand the subsciption but not really sure I like the idea of paying $20 per year for the IPad app. Do I have this right?

That would indicate that multi platform fee is not annual but one time. I would go for that as I find the IFly sectional depiction to be superior to ForeFlight and I love the vector mode.

Just to make sure we are communicating, you do not need the multi-platform option if you are only running IFly GPS on one platform. That can be an IFly device or Android or Apple. So, if you only want to run on your Apple IPad Mini, you would simply renew your subscription for $69 and switch it from your old device to your IPad.
