I sold my Dual XGPS170 ADS-B in device on Ebay and bought a SkyGuard ADS-B in/out transceiver. I am using it with an IPad Mini 4 and IPhone 6S Plus, both running IFly GPS. I am very pleased with this setup. I did not like the "partial traffic" picture with the Dual XGPS170.

Oliver,

Short of the Garmin or Stratus, you should be able to stay with iFly GPS. We work with just about all models. Take a look at the list by tapping Menu - About - Connected Devices and touch Wireless Device. Here you'll see a host of manufacturers we support and more being added.

Feel free to contact me in the office and ill be happy to walk you through this. First... Go to the App Store and make sure there is not an update available for iFly GPS. You then have to pair via Bluetooth, then open iFly GPS and touch Menu - About - Connected Devices and set the Wireless to Dual XGPS. This works without issue for me. Also, make sure your Dual is set to ADS-B.

FYI, we are actually working on an Auto-Detect for ADS-B connections at the time. Should come out in iFly 9.7 release, barring any issues.

Sorry, if my post was misleading.
The Bluetooth connection to the XGPS170 is the problem, not iFly. Once the Bluetooth connection to the XGPS has been lost, non of my iOS devices automatically re-connects to the XGPS. I have to go to Settings --> Bluetooth --> manually connect to the XGPS 170. Once it is connected, it works just fine with iFly, except of the random spikes of the airspeed, which are however also caused by the XGPS.

On one hand, this doesn't sound like a big deal. On the other hand however, it is pretty annoying to have to manually re-connect Bluetooth every time the devices get intentionally or unintentionally disconnected. The charging and erratic speed readings are also not what I would expect from a ~$500 device. Other than that Dual confirms at least the re-connection issues and keeps stating that a new firmware will be released 'soon', their support is also not very helpful.

Looking at the list of GPS / ADS-B devices, supported by iFly, the Dual products are currently the only <$1,000 option.
As much as I like iFly, being forced to either use a substandard product, where the manufacturer obviously does not care about their customers or to spend >$1,000 for a reliable solution, just doesn't feel right...

Take a look at Flight Box, It is only $249 for Single Band or $299 for Dual Band. Not quite as compact as Dual 170, but it uses WiFi and works nicely with iFly GPS.
