I am curious as to why, when you you touch nearest, why do you then have to touch the red triangle at the top right to see if it is in you glide range? The various airport possibilities show red (you won't make it), yellow (you might make it), or green (you should make it)

If you have an engine failure, and I have, the fewer buttons you nedd to psh the better.

It would  be better if, when you touch nearest it instantly gives you the informaton you need to see what your chances are.

Are you suggesting a, for lack of better term, "911 button" or something like that?

If John isn't suggesting it, then I will. I'd never hit NRST unless I really needed to know immediately--so, yes, it's 911. Or else it's probably useless.

I'm with those who keep asking for some kind of glide range indicator on the Map. That could be a glide range boundary line around my ownship position.  Or maybe it would work to paint the glide zone in green, or something like that.  In any case, when the engine quits you don't have time to fool around looking for buttons to press. MAYBE you'll have time to glance at the map.

At the very least, NRST ought to color the airports it turns up in colors to make it obvious which ones are within glide range and which are not.

Don

Yes that is what I requested. I.E, hit nearest and the nearbu airports show whoch ones are possible to reach without hitting yet anther button.

I think the "glide line" on the map is offered by Foreflight so it can be done. Just like vocal traffic warnings.

Two features I don't use on FLY: Real Plan and Sketch.

I've always considered the NRST button to be mainly for emergency use.  While it's useful to see what that airport is off the left, or a few miles ahead, I can look on a map for that, touch the airport on the map and browse away.  A glide ring that takes into account winds at each altitude we'd go through would be nice as well.
