I don't think it should matter if the discount is offered to iFly owner or non-owner; it should be based on head-count only. I'm sure Radenna really doesn't care if they sell a lot more SkyRadars in large grouped numbers. In fact, the participation of non-owners helps more iFly owners to get a good discount on a device that enhances the iFly experience so it's a win-win. I'm grateful to anybody who throws in to help me get a discount. And to a degree it's good PR for AP if non iFly-owners to get involved in the friendly and customer-oriented experience here on the Forum. There's got to be a handful that decide to give the iFly a try after getting more exposure to it here. The quality of the iFly hardware and the direct interaction among iFly owners on the forum, along with the world-class support and Forum particiapation by AP employees has to be one heckuva marketing kick, and rightly deserved.

We'll leave it on the General Discussion Forum and I'll just post a link on the other ADS-B post in the Owners forum so they know this thread exists as well. Thanks for the great feedback everyone. Have a great week.

Since there is some confusion as to where to look for the Second group, I will post my message here for those who want their names added to the list.

Here is the current list of persons committed to making a purchase or on the fence still. Hope all have access to this forum.

rvanpd

Flyinskwurl.

Lawrence Williams

lbspilot

GBA (maybe)

Terry (with qualifications...."but"...)

That makes 4, and possibly 6 with Terry and GBA. we now need 11 more for certain or 9 if Terry and GBA agree to buy. Remember the discount price.

831.25 + $16 shipping for a 12.5% discount off the $950 List price.

Hopefully everyone will figure out how to get all the units working that have already been purchased and there will be updates from the them posted here to satisfy our concerns.

If you are interested and willing to commit, let me know now!!!! I'll add your names to the list.

I was part of the first group buy and initially had to update my iFly by having AP send me a new SD card upgrading my OS from 3.0.0 to 3.0.11. Now all is well. Both devices talk to each other seamlessly. I will go fly it tomorrow. So as far as I can tell at this point the jury is in and everything's looking up.

UPDATE 10/30/2011:

The units worked well together in flight. I forgot to take my iPod to cross-check information so I am going again this week with the iPod Touch talking to the SkyRadar via wifi at the same time the iFly talks via USB. Then I can make sure everything is getting through. Where I live there is practically no weather most of the year (as now) so it's hard to check the Nexrad functionality.
