That's the one I haven't tried yet. I'll let you know when I do. Have you tried it with Avare or another EFB?

Downloaded .3b3. It booted right up, connected to the Android tablet, and the heartbeats were counting up. You might try re-imaging and trying again.

I've found that sometimes the Pi just doesn't want to play. Re-boot it with the same chip/version and it will likely work. It's still early for these things to be thought of a stable.

Hi Jeff:

Thanks. It's obviously a problem on my end then. I had been using a Class 6 16GB micro SD card. This time I used a hi-performance 32GB. I don't think it should make a difference, but who knows? I noticed that the CPU temp jumped to 130 degrees, so it seems like it got into some kind of loop. (Maybe a race condiction with the too fast card? My Nook HD+ required a slow Class 4 or 6 card for flashing a custom ROM and Recover into it.)

Or - there's something new in this version about a kal routine. I don't know if you have to run that manually with a keyboard and monitor. I read on the web that, when running, kal can take a long time to scan cell phone freq and calculate a correction. Could that have been the problem?

I'll re-imaging the 16GB card when I get back home. (And I'll test it at home first!)

I just edited /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf and successfully changed the SSID and frequency channel. I'm still a newby with linux and further handicapped with having to SSH into the pi with an Android tablet instead of a real computer and keyboard. Two helpful apps I've found so far are JuiceSSH and Raspi Check. JuiceSSH is great for editing files because you can tap the screen and get two additional lines added to the keyboard with extra editing keys such as CTRL and arrow keys. Raspi Check gives a quick status of the pi, and a quick way to send a shutdown or reboot command.

It's working well on the ground, I'll be flying with it late tomorrow (Wed) and see how it does.
