Does any of this work from the Windows version of iFly?  I've tried everything I can think of to get a flight plan from my PC to the phone, but the phone never gets a pop-up, and sees no flight plan to import.  I did notice that some of the options aren't quite the same between the PC and Android version, so maybe they won't talk?  Both are on the same network, and I even set my home computer to wifi to make sure they were on the same wifi network, but no joy.

The ultimate goal would be to make the flight plan on the home computer, then transfer it to the 740b on the plane.  Even if I can get the PC-phone, then phone-740b to work, it's sort of a bucket brigade approach.  I guess I had assumed the flight plan could somehow be synced to the account, then would be available for any device.  Is there any way to save the flight plan to the SD card using iFly Connect?  The phone version of iFly has an export option that appears to export to a file, but PC does not have that option.

Thanks,

Rusty

PS- I hope I've just answered my own question, but I won't know until I get to the airport and try it.  When you save a flight plan, it goes in the _iFlyGPSD_Data/User/#FlightPlans folder with the name you gave it.  After using iFlyConnect to update the SD card, I copied that flight plan file to the same folder on the SD card.  Hopefully it will magically appear when I boot the iFly with the updated card.

I've never tried the share feature on my home PC, since the PC doesn't use WiFi, but I would think it would work. But "sharing" is not what you want -- that's a temporary thing that only lasts as long as the connection lasts. You want "syncing", and that definitely should work (works for me, at least to phone & tablets).

You create/modify the flight plan on the PC, and when you save it it will auto-upload to the cloud. Then on the 740, you do Menu | Setup | Sync Devices, choose your PC in the list of devices, make sure Flight Plans is one of the selections in the next screen, then hit the Download button.

Thanks!  I knew I had seen a sync option somewhere.  I tried it with the phone to the PC, and that works, so it should work from the 740b as well.

FWIW, copying the flight plan file to the SD card also worked perfectly.  I used it today to find 5 private strips I had never seen from the air before.

Cheers,

Rusty

I recently installed the echoUAT and Skyfix ADSB system in my rv6. I had a friend pick up the 740B at Oshkosh for me. I tried it for the first time this weekend and it worked great with the echoUAT. You won't have a problem connecting your phone and 740 to the wifi of the echoUAT. I haven't tried transferring a plan but I know that they will both connect to the wifi.

Not sure I understand what you're proposing, Dave--but it sure sounds nice!

It's true that several iFly devices can connect to the "Ping" echoUAT router at the same time. And one iFly device can SHARE a flight plan to a different iFly device IF they're on the same wifi network AND if both (or all) are iOS devices. I don't know about Android devices, or if it will work with a 740 or 740b. (Can't try my 740 today, but doubt it will work because iOS uses Apple's "Airdrop" system, which the 740 lacks.)

As for SYNC, as far as I know it requires that the flight plan has to pass from one iFly to the other via the Adventure Pilot server, and that requires both iFly devices to have Internet connections. Unfortunately, I think Ping does not connect to the Internet, so the sync would have to be a local operation--from one iFly device to another over the local wifi.

It would be terrific if one iFly device could connect to another iFly device via Ping (or any other local wifi router) or directly via wifi. I don't know how that can work now; but I imagine that AP could make it work in software updates.

Or am I missing something that's already done?
