Hello,

As a "rabid" Facebook user, I gotta say, I'm a bit baffled.  I've seen all sorts of discussions in this form about the product... and not a single post about such things on the Facebook page.  I do see FB as an advertizing medium (which I also use it for), but as a platform for technical discussions with Beta users (is there a FB AP Beta group that is closed??)  I just haven't seen it yet.  For development purposes I can't image any company would want to use such a 'public' platform as FB to discuss the 'issues' with new software development.  Perhaps there is a closed group on FB that I am unaware of, but I certainly have not seen any such debugging posts on the curent FB AP page.  Am I missing something here?

I am a happy supporter and user of the iFly software (and soon, I hope, of iFly EFB) and I very much apprecate an active Forum group to air and solve issues.  I just haven't seen any evidence of this type of activity on the Aventure Pilot FB Pages....

I finally just took a look at the iFly FB page.

The content there is NOTHING like what the content here is, and hardly any of it is iFly-related, which is what I'm here for.  Here's are the five most-recent posts I see on the FB page right now:

- Jeff's question about getting Garmin GTX345 ADSB-in data into iFly
- What is your favorite aviation phrase?
- What song do you consider to be perfect?
- Who's the coolest pilot you ever met?
- Brolin warning people about some FB scammer and how 40% of the people trying to join the FB group are probably scammers

I'm not judging--people obviously enjoy meaningless banter and perhaps innocuous feel-good engagement like that between AP and its user base is good for sales.

But to me, that's just a bunch of noise that I don't care about.  If I want entertainment, there are thousands of sites on the web with content that interests me more than what I see on the AP FB page.  There's nothing there to make me think, "Oh, geez, I've really been missing the boat here--this is the happening place I need to be!"

And there's almost zero content related to how to use iFly, or how to make it better.  THAT's what I come to these forums for.

If there were more actual iFly-related discussions on the FB page and also an easy way to avoid the noise I don't care anything about, maybe I'd tolerate it.  You know, like...a way to isolate messages in separate areas, categorized by topic, and you could choose to look at some and ignore others.  Like maybe one for "non-iFly related chitchat", one for "general iFly discussion", maybe one for "iFly feature requests", maybe one for "iFly owner questions and answers", and maybe a few others....  Wouldn't that be great??

Maybe some day....

Precisly why I posted that question on FB.. just to see how it works in that group.  However, being a combined (and very public) page, perhaps AP should consider a new FB Group for just technical interaction and debugging purposes.  But, I agree with Cobra.. where is the technical Q/As on FB? ....

I tried a couple of Facebook forums for Vanagon and a Vans Airforce one too. Gave up on it. While they were fine for community posts just horrible to find/research past topics or support threads. Forum formats are still far superior.  Sounds like I fall into the same category as many of the long-time 7xx series users :-(

Hope the move isn't a done deal.

I basically don't like the Facebook/Meta platform, but then I've been using messaging forums like this long before FB/Meta existed. I monitor several - one per subject and perfer this format. Also, "we don't do Facebook" on general principles - but I've been using on-line communications since the 2400 baud modem was the hot new thing.
